"As the Sun Slips Behind the Loire River" by Karla Nolan, 18"x24" unframed palette knife oil painting

A number of years ago my husband and I traveled through the Loire Valley to visit Amboise.  We settled in to our tiny room, rested from the ordeals of the car travel, and prepared to dine.  As we were walking towards our restaurant, the sun was just beginning to slip behind the river.  With patience and persistence, we saw the magnificent results of another day, reflections above and below the water line.

"Seattle Sunset Reflections", unframed palette knife oil painting

Visiting Seattle, Washington, a number of years ago was a real treat.  I'd never been to the Northwest portion of the U.S., and I loved the waterfront views.  The clouds at sunset were still vibrant, it was early summertime, and catching the reflections of the clouds just over the mountains but in the water, before the sun was too far West, was challenging to paint.  Knowing when to stop painting is always difficult, hopefully these reflections weren't taken too far!
