"Three Sisters, Arches National Monument, Utah" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

ALERT: You are about to view art of a different nature. These are paintings on glass -- that is, painted directly onto glass with specially formulated glass paints. They are always framed for the protection of the glass. The paints often are transparent and sometimes opaque, giving a stained glass appearance under good light. They, like all fine art, should not be hung in direct sunlight. The photographs do not do them justice -- my colors are very vibrant. Close ups are available, just e-mail me for information (see below). In most instances, click on the actual image for an even larger image to view -- you'll see lots of different items such as marbelization, transparent or opaque parts of the work -- try it and see! Commissions are accepted.

A question for you: Have you ever visited Utah? You should! What can I say about Utah? It is dramatic. It is colorful. It has blue skies and red rocks. Canyons. Arches. Arroyos. Desert. Maybe Mars resembles Utah -- all dramatic and such, a different type of landscape. I love it there!

"Three Sisters, Arches National Monument, Utah", framed painting on glass, 14"x11" edge to edge glass, sold framed as shown, $450 includes s&h in North America, e-mail me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

I haven't had the good fortune to actually see the actual Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights, but photographs have passed my way. It would be nice to actually see the real thing but for now this will have to suffice.

"Aurora Borealis Twilight II" framed painting on glass, 5"x7" measured edge to edge glass, Paypal preferred, s&h included in N. America, click button below or write KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Travelling" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting on canvas

If you have followed my art blogs at all, you must know by now that I love skies. My favorite time of day is dusk, sunset, sundown, twilight -- whatever you'd like to call it. Living right by the Rocky Mountains, along the Continental Divide, I see a multitude of incredible sunsets. Oftentimes the clouds move along as the evening progresses -- thus, here is "Travelling" -- as the clouds were having a grand old time that evening a few years ago, during the summer.

"Travelling", 15"x30" palette knife oil painting on 3/4" gallery wrapped canvas, no need to frame unless you care to; $750 includes s&h in N. America, Paypal preferred, click button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Red Orchid Arrangement" by Karla Nolan, oil painting on canvas

Having said in the recent past that I am concentrating mainly on glass paintings, I find that I may need to retract that statement. It figures. I am always up to something new or, in this case, am revisiting something. I have decided, that since glass painting has improved my drawing skills and some of my brush skills, I will occasionally paint in oils again. This painting was started some time ago, solely using palette knives. Recently I attacked it with some brushes and am satisfied with it, finally! Man, an artist sure can be hard on her/himself! I know that I am!

"Red Orchid Arrangement", 20"x24" oil on canvas, gallery wrapped, painted sides, no need to frame; $720 plus s&h to be determined; Paypal preferred, invoice can be sent; write KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Tuscan Vista" by Karla Nolan, pastel painting

I'm finding myself longing for Italy. This happens some days. While it's been lovely and sunny today here in Colorado, with snow lining the streets, frosting up the shrubs and the trees, I remember so well the first time in the mid-1990's that I was in Tuscany. It was springtime, May, with the hills all lush with greens, the sheep grazing in the hilly meadows, the cypress trees slightly bending in the wind. We were near Montepulciano, an unknown town to me at the time. All was so, so lovely. Add to that, the wines of Tuscany and the freshest of foods! Take me back, please!

"Tuscan Vista", 11"x14" pastel painting on sanded surface, sold unframed for $300 which includes s&h in N. America, Paypal preferred, click on button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

Thanks for looking and for your continued support -- Happy New Year to you!
