"Magenta in the Sky" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Vibrant colors in the sky for this miniature painting on glass, sold framed as shown!  Magenta was the "in" color when I lived outside of St. Louis in the 1960's, I remember that as if it were yesterday.  I convinced my mother to buy me an "outfit" in that bright, hot color, but I felt conspicuous in it, as it was a new hue for me.  I mainly lived in red.  It doesn't seem that long ago to me, I know that decades have past, but I still like the magenta tones in the skies when I see them!

"Magenta in the Sky", 5"x5" framed painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass), $100 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Red Sunset in Winter" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

I've resumed painting on glass and present you with my version of a snowy evening with a vivid sunset!  This sort of art can be trying to produce, there are always the unexpected color mixes, problems with tools, spills, and, of course, impatience!  I must say that I do enjoy the results, however, if not always the process!

"Red Sunset in Winter", 11"x14" painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $450 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Poppy Pounce" by Karla Nolan unframed palette knife oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas

Giving a painting a title can be a tedious event.  I mean, let's face, have I not painted more than a couple of poppy paintings?  I was straining my brain today to give this post a proper name and then I thought of how my cat, as a kitten, used to pounce on everything!  I could just see him pouncing on these poppies (aka papaveri, coquelicot)!  Hence, voila, the name of this painting was born!

"Multiple Irises" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

While we're far from Spring, it's always on my mind.  The irises soar towards the sun in multiple colors and Mother Nature makes her own bouquets.  I suppose we can wait three months and several days for this bounty...but it's not easy!

"Multiple Irises", 20"x16" painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $960 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Smoldering Sunset" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

This is seriously one of my all time favorite paintings.  It's basically my back yard at sunset in the winter.  I painted it a while back, lost track of it (yes, that happens in my studio, sadly), found it again recently and was thrilled to see it again.  In fact, I'm almost tempted to not sell it but someone out there needs this for some oomph in his or her life!

"Sailing at Sunset II", palette knife oil painting by Karla Nolan

Years ago my younger daughter and I visited Seattle, Washington -- so much water!  You must remember we live in northern Colorado and are hardly surrounded by the H2O!  I loved the sunsets we saw, the colors from the skies bouncing off the water -- and the sailboats -- well, that's just not that common a sight in my life (having said that, we do live near Horsetooth Reservoir, so I guess I could make more of a point to see sailboats, but I get seasick!)  So, this is an ode to the Northwest part of our country.

"Red Skies" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

I like red and I like drama in skies.  Hence the above painting (bottom photo is the close up).  Sunsets are my favorite genre to paint and you never see or paint the same one twice!  I usually have mountains involved in these art works, as I live right by them and sometimes it's almost as if there is a bounce back in the colors.  Paintings on glass are nerve wracking because it is so easy to get overly enthusiastic and mess it all up but I'm pleased with this outcome.  And it comes already framed (in a basic black frame), ready for the nail in your wall!

"Red Skies", 8"x10" (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $240 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Funnel Cloud at Sunset" by Karla Nolan, original watercolor painting

I'm certain that you've heard of artistic license -- this time I took the liberty of applying it!  I made up this scene and had a blast doing so, although I wouldn't wish for a funnel cloud to appear in the sky at this time of day or any other!  The color and the water did what they wanted and I went along with them (this time!).  Hope you enjoy the view!

"Poppy Field Near Aveyron, France" by Karla Nolan, matted watercolor painting

I've been flipping between watercolor painting and painting onto glass lately.  It's not that I can't make up my mind, I rather enjoy the variety.  I know some folks say "stick with one genre or medium" but that's simply not in my nature.  It's educational, at least for me, to go back and forth and even sparks my imagination and experimentation!  Yes, it's yet another poppy painting, and yes, it's another painting of France, but, hey, why not?  Can you have too much of a happy flower or lovely country (along with Italy, of course, and, while I'm at it, Israel, England, Wales, Ireland....need I say more?)
