"Spring's Here!" by Karla Nolan, oil painting on canvas

Okay, it seems that I am desperate for spring to arrive! I am. We've had so much snow and such cold temperatures at the latter part of the 2009 year, it's hard to believe it. Colorado is, of course, known for snow and cold weather, but this year takes the cake. Luckily for us, when it snows, the snow doesn't stick around as long as it does on the East Coast of the U.S. The sun eventually, usually quickly, comes out and melts it off. In fact, the dear old sun is out today -- brightening our spirits, also. I am looking forward to the springtime, however, when the forsythias bloom, anticipating the arrival of the daffodils and tulips and all. For this day, I'll have to do with my "Spring's Here!" painting, however.

"Spring's Here", 11"x14" oil painting on canvas, sold unframed for $300 which includes s&h in N. America, Paypal preferred, click on button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

Thanks for looking and you support -- Happy New Year to you!

"Poppy Meadow" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting on canvas

Anyone who knows me knows my love for red poppies. I first saw loads of them, growing wild, in the hill towns of Italy, specifically Tuscany, back in 1995. I've been pretty wild about them ever since that time. These are lively, perky flowers that can't help but make one happy...and in the depths of the winter, that cannot be a bad thing!

"Poppy Meadow", 10"x20" palette knife oil painting on canvas, sold unframed for $595 which includes s&h in North America; Paypal preferred, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Cottonwood Glen Dusk" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting on canvas

We are fortunate to have a multitude of beautiful parks here in Fort Collins, Colorado. Summertime seems an eternity away at the moment, due to a massive snowstorm which is ongoing. What a perfect day to display a summer sunset, right? Oh well, why not? Even though I'm a Colorado native, that doesn't mean I'm any kind of snow bunny or snow angel. I prefer the more moderate times of year such as spring and autumn, even some cooler summer days. Here's my tribute to summer!

By the way, I have reduced the price of this painting from $865 to $500. It is gallery wrapped and sold unframed, measures 24"x36" and is quite lovely. Perfect for over a mantel or on a larger wall. Shipping and handling would be extra, however, due to the large size. Determined at time of sale. Paypal preferred, click button below; write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Sail Away" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

I am thrilled to announce that I have just sold this painting, "Sail Away" to a couple in the Washington D.C. area for their baby's nursery. It should look great! This is an 18"x36" palette knife oil painting. I have always been very fond of this particular artwork -- the sea colors, the clouds and skies -- it all just worked well together.

Please let me know if you are ever interested in any of my pastel or oil paintings -- they are on my website, click below -- and I'm always up for doing a commission piece. I'm presently working on an 18"x36" glass painting which is a commission, having a blast doing so! Thanks for your support and for looking.

"Atmospheric Sunset I" by Karla Nolan, framed glass painting

ALERT: You are about to view art of a different nature. These are paintings on glass -- that is, painted directly onto glass with specially formulated glass paints. They are always framed for the protection of the glass. The paints often are transparent and sometimes opaque, giving a stained glass appearance under good light. They, like all fine art, should not be hung in direct sunlight. The photographs do not do them justice -- my colors are very vibrant. Close ups are available, just e-mail me for information (see below). In most instances, click on the actual image for an even larger image to view -- you'll see lots of different items such as marbelization, transparent or opaque parts of the work -- try it and see! Commissions are accepted.

I would suggest clicking on the image for a close up for this painting. It's full of shading, is dreamy, wavy, marked with marblezation. Sunsets capture me. The end of the long day (even in winter, it seems long sometimes) has arrived, peace and quiet is here. Living the mountains makes it even more intriguing -- you see all kinds of dusks here.

"Atmospheric Sunset I", 4"x4" framed as shown glass painting, $125 includes s&h in N. America if shipped from my studio (vs. gallery), Paypal preferred, click button below, or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Lilac Window Box in Santa Fe" by Karla Nolan, framed glass painting

Commissions are accepted.

A NOTE: This time I have outdone myself. Or maybe not! If all goes as expected, I should be a very happy camper. I have been commissioned to paint an 18"x36" painting on glass. Now, you must remember how difficult it is to do this type of work. This art work goes to a very special friend and I have taken my time getting around to doing it -- I like to let the ideas swirl around my head. My best ideas often occur early in the morning or during a shower. Go figure. I don't always understand the creative process, I am just glad if I have the process. Why such a length explanation? Because I plan to "re-run" some of my previous glass paintings during this painting process. Promise to show you my painting when it's finished, though!

This is a window box I saw a while back while walking into art galleries on the famous Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I'm sure that you are aware that this is a premier, internationally known art town. People from around the world flock to it to take a dip in the rarefied atmosphere of unconventional and amazing Santa Fe. Adobe everywhere, the oldest town in North America -- a great amount of history here. And phenomenal art, ranging from classical and representational to far out contemporary, and that's not including the sculptures! Go....visit!!!!!

"Lilac Window Box in Santa Fe", 6"x9" framed painting on glass, $165 includes s&n in N. America if shipped from my studio, Paypal preferred, click button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information
